My friends Helen and Rita talk me into rafting the Colorado River on Independence Day, despite DEA orders to lie low and the drug lord who wants me dead. Lightning, danger, and another corpse turn the holiday into a fresh investigation. This time we must prove the sheriff’s meddling mother is innocent. Staying ahead of the local gossip chain, the sheriff, and cartel goons will take every trick I have before hide-and-seek ends with me as the next body.
